The Oregon Duck lost its head on the first week of the 2025 College Football season, but it returned to the field sporting a new look for the Ducks’ matchup with Eastern Washington
The Oregon Ducks mascot had a bit of a mishap last week during the school’s season opener against Montana State, losing its head after tripping while running onto the field. The mascot quickly dashed off the field, leaving fans wondering if the incident was planned or not.
This week, the Duck decided to switch things up with a new outfit: a full Labubu bodysuit. The back of the suit even featured a tag that read “the monsters,” adding a touch of authenticity to the look.
Labubus have become quite popular in 2025, gaining a cult-like following in pop culture. The Chinese toys from Pop Mart have even made their way into sports conversations, thanks to tennis star Naomi Osaka at the US Open.

“This is my day Labubu,” Osaka shared, showing off her toy after her second round win, “We decided he’s a he. His name is Arthur Flashe. So like… Arthur Ashe… but Arthur Flashe”
The new look seemed to bring good luck for the Duck and the team, as Oregon cruised to a 69-3 victory. Quarterback Dante Moore had an impressive game, completing 16 of his 221 passes for 266 yards and three touchdowns.
Moore is working hard to fill the shoes of 2024 First-team All-American quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Gabriel has had big shoes to fill more than once, first stepping in for Caleb Williams at Oklahoma before taking over for Bo Nix at Oregon.
“Imagine if I followed some quarterback that wasn’t good,” he said. “Who wants to go to a school that – people go to schools because a quarterback played damn good there.”
Gabriel couldn’t quite push the Ducks across the finish line last season. Following a perfect regular season campaign, the Ducks’ title dreams were crushed with a devastating defeat to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.”
We really didn’t have the ability to stop them, and we didn’t have the ability to get something going for us on offense,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning said of the defeat. “We haven’t faced a lot of moments like this all year. (Ohio State) is an unbelievable team.”
“They brought the fight, and we got hit in the mouth,” Oregon receiver Tez Johnson said of the loss. “They won the game from the first snap.”
Oregon will take its 2-0 record to kick off the 2025 season into a matchup with Northwestern next week. On Sept. 27, the Ducks encounter a major challenge against Penn State at Happy Valley.
