Labubu is the newest furry plushie taking social media and Gen Z consumers by storm. This furry plushie is characterized by a creepy grin and serrated teeth, allowing consumers to express themselves in a unique way thanks to the variety of outfits and accessories available for the toys. Labubu was created by Kasing Lung, a Hong Kong artist, and was adapted by Pop Mart, a Beijing toymaker, through ‘The Monsters’ toy line that accommodates the demand for the product overseas.
Labubu dolls are typically 15 inches high, but smaller sizes are also available. The Pop Mart website describes the toys as inspired by Nordic mythology, with a universe packed with all kinds of creatures, good and evil. “Among them, the most prominent one was LABUBU, a small monster with high, pointed ears and serrated teeth,” the website reads. “Despite a mischievous look, LABUBU is kind-hearted and always wants to help, but often accidentally achieves the opposite.”
