Labubu, Zimomo, and Mokoko are collectible toys from Kasing Lung’s ‘The Monsters’ series, popularized by Pop Mart blind boxes
Labubu may have already stolen the spotlight with its mischievous grin and celebrity fan club, but the Monster’s world doesn’t stop there. If you’re new to this viral toy universe, you’ll be surprised to know that Labubu actually has company; Zimomo and Mokoko. While all three look adorable at first glance, each has its own story and distinct features. So how do you tell them apart?
What started as designer figures in 2015 has grown into a worldwide craze, thanks to Chinese company Pop Mart’s blind-box launches in 2019. Since then, these playful toys have become more than just collectables. They are seen as fashion accessories, celebrity must-haves, and even luxury status symbols.

Who is Labubu?
Labubu is the star of the Monsters’ universe and the original troublemaker. Recognisable by prickly fur, pointed ears and nine tiny teeth, she is mischievous and daring, always looking like she’s up to no good. Labubu has no tail, but her bold and playful character makes her stand out.
If you’ve seen plushies or figurines popping up in trending reels, often attached to handbags or used as keychains, it’s almost certainly a Labubu.

Who is Zimomo?
Unlike Labubu’s hyper energy, Zimomo, her elder brother, carries a completely different aura. Described as the forest gang’s leader, Zimomo has a rounder, fuller face and a distinctive spiked tail.
He is calm, dreamy and serene, almost angelic in comparison. Spotting a Zimomo is easy once you notice the gentle expression and the thoughtful eyes a sharp contrast to Labubu’s cheeky grin.

Who is Mokoko?
Mokoko is the sweetest of the lot, with pastel pink fur, a soft round face, a white tummy and large sparkling eyes. Although her silhouette mirrors Labubu, Mokoko’s pale colouring and delicate eyelashes give her a softer and friendlier appearance.
If you come across a plushie that looks pink, fluffy and utterly adorable, chances are you’ve just found Mokoko.
Where can you find them in India?
While Pop Mart remains the sole official source of Labubu toys worldwide, collectors in India do have options. These toys are available through platforms like Amazon, independent toy sellers on Instagram, speciality import shops, and occasionally in large malls or pop culture stores.

Limited-edition drops and collaborations with artists add an exclusive edge to each piece. Their expressive faces and backstories make them feel almost alive, sparking both nostalgia and the thrill of owning something rare.
A celebrity favourite
Labubu has gone from cult toy to red carpet regular. Hollywood stars have been flaunting their quirky figures across Instagram and even at high-profile events. Whether it’s perched on a designer coffee table or dangling from a luxury handbag, Labubu has become an unlikely yet highly coveted celebrity accessory.

Bollywood has caught on as well. Sharvari Wagh charmed fans by clipping a Labubu keychain to her Balenciaga. Ananya Panday was spotted with a pink Labubu hanging from her tote. Pashmina Roshan carries her blue plush like a constant sidekick, while Urvashi Rautela went all out by showing off four dolls on her Hermès bag during Wimbledon 2025.

How to verify an original Labubu
With demand soaring, so has the risk of counterfeits. To ensure authenticity, always check the packaging and the toy’s details. Look for the Pop Mart logo stamp on Labubu’s left foot and a QR code on the box. Genuine pieces will also have consistent colours, crisp printing and neat stitching.
