Students were able to end the week making Labubu brownies, sampling Dubai chocolate, and decorating tote bags in the Honors College Friday evening.
Dubai Chocolate Labubu Night, hosted by the Honors Leadership Council, was an event meant to promote community and connect students to the HLC and the academic colleges.
βThe main goal for this event was for people to get to know us and then get to know each other,β said Augustine Gallespen, the executive chair of the College of Health and Human Sciences cohort of the HLC. βOver the summer, I got really into Dubai Chocolate β¦ but I also wanted to share my love and build community surrounding that.β
Members of the HLC, who are executive chairs of honors cohorts within their respective colleges, led various stations from matcha tasting to a chocolate fountain. Students who visited every station had their names entered into a raffle to win a free Labubu.

Β Zayra Pallikan, a freshman in exploratory studies, was one of the over 200 attendees.
βI personally have multiple Labubus and I just really love them, so seeing this event here really resonated with me β¦ it was a great experience,β Pallikan said.
HLC executives host many events throughout the year within their individual cohorts, as well as collaborative events such as this one. Their primary goals are to support disciplinary and interdisciplinary networks within the Honors College and serve as a resource to advance studentsβ social, professional, and academic development.
βOur greatest hope for our greatest impact is making sure that we are building community across these people but also being supplemental and aiding them in their honors journey,β Gallespen said.

Upcoming major events from the HLC include the Honorsween Halloween celebration, Thankfulness week, and their annual Holiday Party for Good.
Until then, students like Reagan Morrell, a freshman in exploratory studies, can enjoy their newly decorated tote bags and the connections they made during Dubai Chocolate Labubu Night.
βIt was a good time,β Morrell said. βThe activities were good, the music was goodβI rate it a 10 out of 10.β
