No – it’s a WAKUKU, Laurèl’s collaborative mascot character, introduced as part of the brand’s Paris Fashion Week debut. Wonderland made a pitstop in the French capital to see what the German womenswear brand had in store for Spring 26.
For a show themed “The Law of Eternity,” Laurèl proved itself firmly in tune with the now during its Paris Fashion Week debut. Presenting at the historic Monnaie de Paris – as part of a cultural initiative supported by the Shenzhen municipal government – the brand brought to Paris its vision for Spring 26 and marked the beginning of a new chapter: the debut of the Laurèl Atelier collection.
Founded in Munich in 1978, Laurèl built its identity on German craftsmanship and Bauhaus aesthetics, taking form and function as its north star, with the suit as its enduring emblem. For this new chapter, attention to detail was dialled up, exploring the qualities of haute couture to craft timeless designs – with a playful, avant-garde twist via Labubu’s cousins, the WAKUKUs, appearing as bag charms adorning handbags.
The collection is generous and offers something for every Laurèl customer. Delicate, thinly knitted pieces serve as elevated basics; leather work is particularly strong – the caramel bomber is a standout; formalwear is smartly tailored for the office-to-evening pipeline; and a dainty touch comes in the form of sugar-coated pink monochromatic pieces, blending tailoring with athleisure. It’s the cherry on top. We can’t wait to see what’s next for the brand.
