The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has announced it will launch a new tourism initiative in partnership with Chinese toy company POP MART on Friday, 6 June. The event, titled POP MART MACAO CITYWALK, will feature large-scale character installations across four locations in Macau and Taipa, running until 21 September.
The project includes the debut of a seven-metre-tall LABUBU figure at the Vila da Taipa Historical Centre Archway, where the opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The campaign marks MGTO’s first collaboration with POP MART and aims to attract visitors during the summer season.
Installations will also be placed at Calçada da Igreja de São Lázaro, Camões Square, and St. Augustine’s Square. Characters featured include Baby Molly, CRYBABY, DIMOO and LABUBU, each displayed alongside themes inspired by local food culture. A four-metre-high DIMOO will be positioned near World Heritage architecture, while other locations will showcase newly designed or oversized versions of POP MART figures.
In addition to the outdoor installations, a POP STATION will be set up at the Ritz Building in Senado Square. It will include check-in zones, a retail area for POP MART merchandise, and a large display of MEGA SPACE MOLLY designed as a Macau-style egg tart.
