Oscar-winning actress Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh is the latest Malaysian celebrity to join the Labubu trend.
Yeoh, who celebrated her 63rd birthday on Aug 6, shared several Instagram photos of herself posing with a limited-edition Labubu doll featuring Hong Kong’s famous panda twins Jia Jia and De De.
Celebrated birthday with co-stars
In other photos, Yeoh held the doll while standing alongside her Wicked co-stars — American actor Jeff Goldblum and British singer-actress Cynthia Erivo.
She wrote, “Celebrating Hong Kong-born Panda Twins’ first birthday (and my birthday too) with Labubu in the Hollywood Bowl.”
In a separate post, Yeoh revealed she also received a personalised illustration from Labubu’s creator, Kasing Lung.
The drawing featured the sharp-toothed toy wishing her a happy birthday, and Yeoh thanked Lung in the caption, expressing her desire to meet him one day.
Other stars who received the same doll include Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Chiu Wai and his wife, actress Carina Lau.
The gift is part of a collaboration between Hong Kong’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and Kasing Lung to celebrate the panda twins’ first birthday on Aug 15 and promote the city.
