Hong Kong-listed toymaker Pop Mart International Group is making strides in its global expansion strategy, a move that has been well-received by investors. The company plans to establish regional headquarters in Greater China, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe, as detailed in a report by the South China Morning Post. This strategic shift comes as the company seeks to mitigate the challenges posed by US tariffs and geopolitical tensions that affect Chinese firms aiming for global markets.
In a recent memo, Wang Ning, CEO and group chairman, emphasized the company’s commitment to becoming an international player. He announced the appointment of Justin Moon as co-chief operating officer alongside Sid Si. Moon will focus on the Asia-Pacific and European markets, while Si will manage operations in Greater China and the Americas. This restructuring is intended to bolster Pop Mart’s international presence, with overseas revenue already accounting for nearly 40% of the company’s total income.
Pop Mart’s shares saw a notable increase, rising as much as 4.1% to HK$165.60, building on a 6.4% gain from the previous day. The company’s stock has surged 75% year to date, following a remarkable 370% increase last year, reflecting strong investor confidence in its expansion plans.
