Labubu mania isn’t just viral – it’s turning into a multi-billion dollar business.
Pop Mart, the company behind the wildly collectible designer toy, is projecting a jaw-dropping 350% profit jump in 2025, driven largely by surging demand in North America. The company has already surpassed its full-year 2024 U.S. revenue in just the first quarter of this year, and its stock valuation has ballooned to a staggering $40 billion.
At the heart of the boom is Labubu, a mischievous little character created in 2015 by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung. Originally inspired by Nordic fairytales, the wide-eyed creature has since developed a devoted global following—especially among Gen Z collectors.
The hype reached new heights at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, where fans waited in line for hours at the Pop Mart booth just for a chance to grab a mystery box. Many attendees were spotted proudly displaying their Labubu dolls on their bags and backpacks as collectibles turned fashion accessories.
Sold in blind-box format and priced between $20 and $30, Labubu dolls regularly sell out online and often resurface on resale platforms for hundreds—or even thousands—of dollars. The rarest variants drive a relentless chase, and viral unboxing videos across TikTok and Instagram have only intensified demand.
The latest drop was back in June where Pop Mart revealed their new Wacky Mart line featuring the Labubu character.
