The rising Japanese tennis player has boasted a collection of cute glittery Labubus at the US Open 2025 in New York, taking inspiration from the names she has given them.

Apart from flexing her incredible rise on the tennis court in New York, Japanese Naomi Osaka’s US Open stint is now becoming famous for the series of Labubus she so fondly boasts of. An amusing viral clip captured the in-form 27-year-old player showing off these glittery dolls created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung.
First created in 2015, the Labubu became famous through Pop Mart collaborations and has only grown in their cult due to Osaka, who has a collection of them in glittery, crystal-studded editions. Each of them marks Osaka’s playful homage to some of the biggest sporting icons in history.
Naomi Osaka’s Five Labubus
The Japanese star has proudly carried these five custom-made Labubus at the Flushing Meadows, showing them off to the huge crowds with a big, beaming smile on her face. Each of the Labubus Osaka carries is carefully crafted in expensive gold and holds a deeper meaning for her.
Billie Jean Bling: Made in red rhinestones, this Labubu matched Osaka’s opening-round outfit and honoured Billie Jean King, one of the legends of women’s tennis.
LaBillieBu: This Labubu represented Osaka’s second tribute to Jean King, featuring her famous red glasses in a playful twist given by the designer to her signature look.
Arthur Flashe: Designed in purple, Osaka’s next Labubu was a fitting tribute to the legacy of Arthur Ashe, after whom the US Open’s main stadium is named.
Althea Glitterson: Osaka introduced this Labubu to the fans and media during a press conference. A silver-crafted doll, it holds a special place in her heart, being a tribute to Althea Gibson. Gibson is renowned for breaking the colour barriers in tennis 75 years ago.
Andre Swagassi: Osaka’s fifth Labubu stands as a tribute to the giant Andre Agassi’s style and rich legacy in tennis history.
Fans Love Naomi Osaka’s Labubus
The viral clip perfectly captured Osaka’s glee at presenting each of her five Labubus to the crowds and earned her more admirers on social media.
“The last time she had something for all of her matches, she hoisted the trophy. let’s go, Naomi!” wrote one fan.
Another commented: “Her joy is contagious!!!”
“I’m convinced they are giving her superpowers,” said an individual, finding a connection between the Labubus and her terrific performances at the US Open.
Osaka doesn’t just carry these Labubus as some quirky courtside accessory but uses their presence to take inspiration from the journey and greatness of each of the big names she has associated with them.
