Two burglars stole expensive toys from two claw machine shops in Tsuen Wan on Wednesday, the first day of the Lunar New Year.
The male and female duo used tools to extract expensive toys from the claw machines, including popular items like the Labubu doll, resulting in a total loss of approximately HK$5,000 for the two shops.
The shop owner shared CCTV footage on Facebook, showing the male suspect using a tool to reach inside the claw machines, while the female accomplice acted as a lookout.
The man concealed the toys in his clothes after successfully grabbing them, and both fled the scene after the crime.
The shop owner noted that the male thief tampered with the CCTV system, erasing some footage of the theft, while the female reportedly pretended to play with the crane machines to avoid suspicion whenever other customers were present.
The stolen items included several Labubu toys and one Sanrio figure, cumulatively valued at around HK$5,000.
