Shropshire Council’s trading standards team confiscated the counterfeit dolls from shops throughout the county.
The fake versions of the popular “The Monsters” series by Pop Mart pose a serious safety risk, especially to children.
These counterfeit dolls have been found with small parts that could cause choking, along with sharp edges and toxic materials due to poor manufacturing.
Councillor Bernie Bentick, Shropshire Council’s cabinet member for health and public protection, said: “These counterfeit toys are not just illegal, they’re potentially dangerous.
“We’re proud of the swift action taken by our Trading Standards team to remove unsafe products from sale in Shropshire.”
Shropshire Council is urging people to report any suspicious items to the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 0808 223 1133.
The council is also asking businesses to be cautious when sourcing Labubu products, advising them to only buy from authorised distributors or Pop Mart’s official channels.
Retailers should check for anti-counterfeit codes on packaging and inspect product quality before selling.
Pop Mart has also provided guidance to help consumers identify genuine Labubu products.
Some key indicators of authenticity include intact packaging, trademark markings on the sole of the foot, high-quality stitching, and a scannable code on the packaging that links to Pop Mart’s verification site.
